In the Wild:

This noodle-like mushroom was misidentified as a Psilocybe natalensis for many years. Legendary mycologist Alan Rockefeller sequenced the DNA of his P. cubensis var “Natalensis” samples and found that they were 7 nucleotides different than true cubensis varieties — officially making Psilocybe ochraceocentrata its own species!

P. ochraceocentrata (sometimes known as “Oaks” or “Ochras“) are unique, skinny, small-capped mushrooms. High Performance Liquid Chromatography has shown these mushrooms to contain higher-than-average amounts of psilocybin/psilocin when compared to cubensis varieties and strains.

What we find most interesting are the thousands of anecdotal online reports that claim that the experience these mushrooms provide is notably different than other cubensis mushrooms. While there is mounting evidence that this is due to the ochraceocentrata species containing different amounts of other alkaloids, further research is being conducted to verify these claims.

Shipping and Storage:

Your cultures will be fine during shipping, we promise! They handle heat and cold very well. Once home, cubensis cultures should be kept in a fridge between 33-40°F to maximize their lifespan of 6-12 months.

Do not let your cultures freeze! While most will survive one freeze-thaw cycle, multiple freeze-thaw cycles will kill any live mycelium.
